Arthritis and CBD

Arthritis is something we hear about all the time especially as we get older. We often hear people saying oh my arthritis is acting up.  However what is it truly?  Arthritis is the swelling and tenderness of one or more of your joints. Some of the symptoms of arthritis are joint pain and stiffness that typically worsen with age.

The most common types of arthritis are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis, affecting millions of people. It occurs when the protective cartilage that cushions the ends of your bones wears down over time. This type of arthritis cause the hard, slippery tissue that covers the ends of bones where they form a joint to break down.  Although osteoarthritis can damage any joint, the disorder most commonly affects joints in your hands, knees, hips and spine.

Rheumatoid arthritis is a disease in which the immune system attacks the joints, beginning with the lining of joints. It occurs when your immune system mistakenly attacks your own body’s tissues. Unlike the wear-and-tear damage of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis affects the lining of your joints, causing a painful swelling that can eventually result in bone erosion and joint deformity.

The inflammation associated with rheumatoid arthritis is what can damage other parts of the body as well.

The Arthritis Foundation conducted a study of 2,600 people suffering from arthritis and found that the majority of the people in the study are using CBD to treat their pain symptoms.  CBD can be an excellent anti-inflammatory which is why many people are finding success with Cannabinoil

CBD is also a great topical where you can apply it directly to your target area.

Some people with issues use topical CBD products, in particular oils to manage their symptoms.
